James G. Kanellakos, M.D.
Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. James Kanellakos is a general orthopedic surgeon with intensive subspecialty training in hip and knee replacement as well as orthopedic trauma surgery. He has extensive experience in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Kanellakos has been a practicing orthopedic surgeon in both the United States and Canada for over 10 years.
Dr. Kanellakos completed his orthopedic residency at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Afterwards he completed a fellowship at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He received extensive training in the latest surgical techniques of hip and knee replacement surgery as well as fracture stabilization surgery. Dr. Kanellakos employs cutting-edge technology and has expertise with computer assisted surgery, minimally invasive joint replacement, partial (uni) knee replacement and complex revision surgery.
Dr. Kanellakos’ philosophy is that the well-being and interests of his patients always come first. He believes the best medical care is derived from a combination of the latest surgical techniques and excellence in patient care. Dr. Kanellakos feels that it is of the utmost importance to spend time explaining the advantages and disadvantages of any particular procedure to his patients. He is sincerely interested in getting to know his patients on a personal level. He encourages patients’ questions and strives to fully address any concerns. Dr. Kanellakos derives great satisfaction from being able to help his patients return to an active, pain-free lifestyle with joint replacement surgery.
Dr. Kanellakos is dedicated to clinical research, medical education and excellence in patient care. He is an active public lecturer who enjoys interacting with patients so that they can better understand issues surrounding total joint replacement surgery in today’s multimedia world. He is an avid sports enthusiast having grown up playing hockey, football and soccer. He continues to enjoy playing recreational ice hockey.
Dr. Kanellakos is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada), the Canadian equivalent of board certification.
